Artful Dodger joins big underground players in the Woodland Ponds…
We’re pleased to announce that Artful Dodger, established as the most commercially successful UK Garage act to have emerged from the scene to date, and Applebottom, one of the most respected producers of dance music in the UK, will be performing at Eklectica, the new, boutique music festival taking place at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight, this September.
They join big underground players, Kry Wolf, rave legend, Altern8 aka Mark Archer and daft Punk tribute experience Daft Club who’ll make up a two-day programme of fresh, up-tempo sounds in the heart of the stunning woodlands at Robin Hill. More acts to be announced.
Originally comprising of producers Mark Hill, Pete Devereux and MC Alistair, Artful Dodger produced an amazing string of chart topping hits, remixes and a platinum selling album, It’s All About The Stragglers. With Pete and Mark deciding to follow different musical paths, MC Alistair continued to bring the chart-topping brand to the clubs and festivals around the world by linking up with David Low, the co-owner of the Label Public Demand Records, responsible for signing and breaking the Artful Dodger brand. An instant success, the duo have been tearing up dance floors for over ten years and their reputation as an MC/DJ has become highly rated. They continue to play alongside some of the biggest artists in the music business such as Busta Rhymes, Calvin Harris, Chipmunk, Amerie, Wretch 32, N Dubz, Pro Green and Taio Cruz to name but a few.
Kry Wolf (Bill Francis & Lewis Darvill), are fast becoming recognised as one of the UK’s big underground players due to their distinctively creative and varied production style and consistently strong releases. The duo are behind some of the biggest parties ever thrown on the South coast through uber brand Sumo, not to mention putting out some of the freshest new talent on their own label Sounds of Sumo. Obsessively putting in the studio hours, their productions have ranged from house, garage, tech, funky to experimental as they continually refuse to be pigeon-holed. With names like Zinc, Mary Anne Hobbs, A-Trak, Sub Focus, The Martin Brothers, Mosca, AC Slater, Dave Spoon, Buraka Som Sistema, Lil Silva and Roska dropping their tracks, the word of the Wolf is spreading fast.
As far as rave legends go, you won’t find many higher up the list than Altern8 aka Mark Archer. Founding member of Bizarre Inc, one half of Nexus 21 and Altern8, and also recorded solo under a plethora of monikers such as DJ Nex, Trackman, and Slo Moshun… Mark is quite simply one of the most important and influential dance music producers of the last two decades. Still writing and DJing across the globe, everything from jacking acid, classic techno, funk, hardcore, hip-hop, and of course his most notorious speciality genre: Old Skool Rave – Mark Archer is a resident at London’s I Love Acid.
Applebottom is currently one of the most respected young producers in the UK. The Bristolian, barely making his way out of his teens, has already caught the ear of some of the most sought-after labels in the business as well as the radio establishment. Annie Mac can’t get enough of him; he’s had releases on Kerri Chandler’s MadTech and Zed Bias’ Biasonic to name a couple, and his most recent single on UK powerhouse Black Butter Records, was just the icing on the cake for a young man, many dance heads see as one of the future figureheads of dance music. Applebottom has come to be considered a beatmaker able to transverse genres with that rarest of production talents: the consistent ability to make a straight-up club banger.
James Crofts, Park Manager at Robin Hill, said, “We’re super excited how the line-up for our stunning woodlands area of the park is coming together. The fantastic blend of fresh underground sounds and iconic dance music titans across the weekend won’t disappoint. With literally decades of experience putting on amazing parties between the artists involved, anyone coming to Eklectika in search of an amazing clubbing experience isn’t going to need to look far to get their fix.
Described as a festival with a twist, Eklectica is an exciting combination of bands, DJs and acts that promise to be diverse, quirky and creative, headlined by internationally renowned, show stopping tribute bands – all set within the unique woodland setting of Robin Hill. Expect the unexpected!
